I have always been amazed at pictures that I have seen of Horseshoe Bend and I made the 20 minute trek through the desert early one morning to the site. The lens that I had could not begin to capture the full beauty of this site. I think that most of those great pictures that I have seen may have been taken from a helicopter.

I photographed parts of the river and canyon and these are the shots that I will be posting. Some cropping was involved because as the sun was rising the rim and sky were overexposed.

The depth here is about 1,100 ft. or about 335 meters. In tomorrow's posting a motorboat appears as a small speck.
