Colorado Plateau: The Beginning

The beginning was nearly the end. This image was taken in south-western Utah on my first morning out on the road. There was a terrific wind and my Nikon D70s hit the ground when the wind blew the tripod over.

Lessons learned:
Never leave a tripod and camera even for an instant in a very strong wind.
Take a backup camera. My older Canon G5 would have been great.
Sometimes luck is with you in that nothing appeared to be broken except the remote shutter release socket which took the hit.

Since I first processed these pictures from RAW, Bibble introduced a number of b & w plugins which mimic various photographic papers and filters. They are significantly better than CS3's b & w conversion process and those of several other RAW processors that also have a b & w conversion feature at the RAW stage of processing.

I reworked many of my original b & w's and these are the images that I will be posting for the next while. To add variety when I get to those photographs that I have never posted some days will be in colour and others in monochrome.

Enjoy.
